Hero of the Month Deck: Shadows Over Lothlorien

Part of my reasoning for choosing Grima as November’s Hero of the Month, aside from a general interest, was that I really wanted to try my hand at true solo again, something I hadn’t done for quite awhile. Grima has proved a very fun Hero if only to use while musing about deckbuilding. Where Grima seems to truly shine, at least in a solo capacity, is in trait based decks (or “tribal” decks). These decks typically have a key card that provides some sort of reducer for cards that contain the particular trait. And though I’d love to jump to the biggest irony that is using Grima in a Rohan build, I’ve decided at the moment to go in a different direction and pair Grima up with some unlikely partners, the Lady of the Golden Wood and her husband, the Lord of Lothlorien. Given Grima’s questionable methods in achieving his goals, I’ve decided to give this deck a more menacing name, Shadows over Lothlorien.

Hero of the Month Deck: Silvan Strength

I came into this game when Voice of Isengard was announced. Upon it’s release (and the release of the subsequent Adventure Packs) the hot new trait was Silvan. The trait had existed before with cards like Mirlonde, Legolas, and a smattering of Silvan Allies, but the developers decided to really expand on it with the Ringmaker Cycle. The Silvan trait played with allies coming in and out of play, with effects triggering during said moments. It wasn’t anything overly complex but it wasn’t something as simple to pilot as Outlands. I quickly became enthralled and though I was spending a lot of my time enjoying older content, I couldn’t help but get hooked on the archetype.

May Hero of the Month – Galadriel

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying the change in season. The days are getting warmer, the sun is staying up longer, and if you’re anything like me your sinuses are kicking you in the face and you can’t stop sneezing. Despite the warm weather and allergies abound, I hope you all have had a chance to stay indoors once or twice and get a game or two in.
