September Contest Winner!

Hello all and Happy Sunday! It’s been a crazy week so I apologize not announcing the winner a few days sooner but I figured Sunday night was just a good night as any. There were several decks submitted and all had their own unique contributions. Some were purely thematic, others more practical and a couple tried to combine them as best they could. But of course only one Block Format Deck could be selected. Read on and enjoy. I’ll be posting the other lists later on in the week.

If you didn’t read the article I posted a couple of weeks back I’ll quickly sum it up. Each contestant was asked to submit a deck that only contained cards using one core set and all the cards from the Voice of Isengard Expansion and Ringmaker Cycle. Now onto the winner.

Though it has no title, I like to call the winning deck Power of the QueenI won’t go into too much detail and let you read Lee’s own words below:

The deck is made to do two unglamourous but very useful things, quest (specifically targeting locations) and draw cards. The twist is that in order to generate resources Galadriel has been attempting to tap the power of Orthanc but is slowly dooming herself and other players in the process. Will the increased questing power stay ahead of the accelerated destruction?

Unexpected Courage on Galadriel and/or Beravor is a must to get the most out of them. All the doomed cards can give Galadriel resources through power of Orthanc as well as boost the Isengard Messengers. Nenya will act as a resource smoother as well as a willpower boost in the absence of songs. Hopefully this quick and powerful card draw and deployment along with events that let players ignore threat in the staging area will push the players quickly through a quest. Big enemies are a problem so at least one helper deck is needed but with enough readying effects Beravor and Idraen should be able to cope with a few common baddies. Duplicate uniques can be sacrificed to Protector of Lorien for extra speed.

  1. I won! Today is my first day back in work after a week off and it is a drizzly grey day typical of September in the North of England ….. but after reading this I don’t care any more. I am a very happy man. Thanks Took.

    1. That was an error in delivery on my part, my apologies. I actually had to go and double check my own post. It doesn’t exactly stand out but I do mention that submissions could pretend as though they had 3 copies of the core set.
